At Lahart Carpentry, we specialise in designing, crafting, and installing bespoke furniture that makes the most of any space, no matter how awkward or unconventional. One of our recent projects in South West London is a great example of how custom carpentry can completely transform a room.

The client approached us with a long, narrow room that had two doors, one at the front and one on the left-hand side, making the layout slightly challenging. Their goal was to turn this space into a walk-in wardrobe with plenty of easily accessible storage, all while keeping the design clean and open.

The Design: Smart Storage in a Slim Space

We designed and built a series of open wardrobe units, carefully tailored to fit the elongated shape of the room. The units included:

  • Spacious drawers on Blum soft-close under-mounted runners
  • Pull-out shoe shelves for better accessibility and organisation
  • Integrated LED strip lighting profiles installed beneath the shelving (lighting not illuminated in the photos)

Although the LED lights are not turned on in the project images, you can see the discreet profile that houses the strip lighting – adding subtle illumination for functionality and a touch of luxury.

A Practical and Polished Result

Despite the spatial constraints, the finished result is both visually pleasing and highly practical. Everything has a place, from shoes and accessories to hanging garments and folded items. The client now has a fully functional dressing space that’s tidy, modern, and easy to use.

Why Go Bespoke?

Off-the-shelf solutions rarely make full use of unusual or limited spaces. With bespoke carpentry, you’re not limited by standard sizes or layouts. Every inch is tailored to your needs, your home, and your lifestyle. Whether it’s a walk-in wardrobe, a fitted home office, alcove units, or storage under the stairs, our designs are made to fit – beautifully.

Serving Clients Across London

Based in London, Lahart Carpentry works with homeowners across the city to create one-of-a-kind furniture pieces, from initial design through to final installation. We combine traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques and high-quality materials to deliver results that are built to last.

Whether you have a small space, an awkward layout, or just a unique idea you’d like to bring to life, we’d love to help.
